Can anyone tell me how to hook up a Joystick in Mach 3. I have been reading the manual and it explains: “The stick is enabled by the Joystick button and for safety, must be in the central position when it is enabled.” Where is the Joystick button?

Larry,
You should go to the Mach3 site and download their documentation files: "Mach3 Install and Config Guide" and the "Using Mach3Mill". These 2 PDF files you will find very useful and one of them discusses how to setup a joystick. Also on the Mach3 site you will find their Forum, a great place for info.

Keith,
Thanks for the reply. I have been reading those documents and can only find that you “can” install one. I must be missing something so I will go back and try to search it. If you know what pages that will describe the actual installation, I would be greatly appreciate that info.

Thanks
Larry

Sorry to take so long to get back to you Larry. Go to your C drive and look in the MACH3 folder for the file called KeyGrabber; it has a smiley face for an icon. Doubleclick it.

Then if you follow the tutorial found at the bottom of this page:

http://www.hossmachine.info/projects_2.html#control%20panel

You should be fine.

The links below might be of interest to you also, however the Artsoft forum is a GREAT resource, I am amazed by how much useful information is there.

Hope this helps you as much as it helped me.

It's much easier to purchase an XBOX360 wired controller and install the plugin from the Mach3 site. It worked great for me. You can control the X and Y on the left joystick, the Z on the right joystick and program all the buttons on the controller for other things like feed hold, start, e-stop, steps, etc. I have mine set up to run at 50% rapids until I pull the trigger and it will rapid at 100%. If I touch the blue button it will change to .oo1 step mode for touching off my tools and setting X0 Y0. It's awesome! You can also do a wireless controller.

Here is a link to a cheap aftermarket controller: http://cgi.ebay.com/Replacement-Wired-C ... 2c59faf99b

The link to the plugin for Mach3: http://www.machsupport.com/plugins.php (last item on the page)

Hope this helps.

I ran into the same issue. When setting up the xbox controller, make sure that you have disabled the joystick plugin - see attached image. You should only have the xbox controller plugin active for your setup. If you have the joystick plugin active, it wants to control the xbox controller, and therefore may be in conflict with the xbox controller plugin. Then you can configure it as needed. Hope this helps.
