80mm Spindle Mount for BlackFoot/BlackToe

80mm Spindle Mount for BlackFoot/BlackToe

I'm putting an 80mm 2.2kW spindle on my BlackFoot, and needed some new mounts. I've attached what I came up with at the bottom.

For informational purposes, here are some dimensions pulled from a .DXF of Patrick's original Porter Cable 892 2.25HP router mounts. I'm really puzzled where the hell the 4.8986" (4.89857227") center-to-top dimension came from, as well as the 4.4764" (4.47642773") out to the clamping noses. This whole design holds the router out very far from the z-axis, with over an inch of air-gap between the router body and z-axis tower. However, if you attempt to redesign it, you'll also have to redesign the dust shoe components that connect to it!

Here's what the 80mm spindle mount looks like. It's only slightly smaller than the mount for the PC 892. SolidWorks and .DXF files below.

If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?
